P. Fanning’s Bert (ISDS #: 00/353562) x M. Murphy’s Curragh Jess (ISDS #: 00/373907)

Curragh Lucky (ISDS #: 00/383566) was imported by Troy & Valerie Mellema from Ireland in 2021. He is a black and white smooth coat border collie.

A son of Churchmount Sheepdog’s Bert and a grandson of Churchmount Sheepdogs’s Bruce, Curragh Lucky combines the athleticism and hardiness of the classic Irish working dog. He’s ready to go to work when beckoned but also enjoys hours of fetch and frisbee.

Churchmount Sheepdogs is owned by Paddy Fanning of Co. Wicklow, Ireland. Bert and Bruce are both working and trial dogs. Bruce is a son of Ricky Hutchinson’s Sweep and winner of the 2018 Irish National Sheepdog Trial. Bruce has one of the best trial scores recorded with a 212. He was also named Irish Driving Champion in 2018. More recently, Bruce finished in the Top 12 at the World Sheepdog Trials out of 250 dogs from all over the world.

Bert is the hard-knocking grandson of Serge’s Gary and also a grandson of Flash who was a brother of Serge’s old Glen. This mating was specifically selected by Paddy Fanning. The result is a dog that produces power, balance, and strength. More importantly, he has a strong mind and can take a lot of training or work without tiring, a trait he has passed down.

D. Burwell’s Newt (ABCA #: 408765) x D. Burwell’s DB Faith (ABCA #: 442071)

Molly (ABCA #: 510007) was bred by D-B Farms in Terrell, Texas. She is a tri-color, long-haired border collie.

Bred for both working and agility, Molly adds a bit of finesse to the hardened power that the Irish line brings.

Molly’s bloodlines feature agility lines from Red River Border Collies and includes working lines descending from 2007 Supreme Sheepdog Champion Roy (ISDS #: 266416).

From her first litter, it is apparent that she also adds a bit of bite and cowdog to her pups that blends well with Lucky’s sheepdog style.
